Fees and Payments

Scripts, Referrals, Medical Records and Results

No, a standard consultation or telehealth appointment (if eligible, see telehealth eligibility frequently asked question) with your GP is required to request and discuss a repeat prescription. If you choose a telehealth appointment with your GP, our reception staff can fax your prescription to your pharmacist or have it ready for you to pick up from our clinic at your convenience.

Due to governing confidentiality rules, we can’t give you referrals, prescriptions or test results for your partner. If your child is less than 18 years old, we may be able to give you your child’s test results, referrals and prescriptions given that they are present in the consultation with your GP. 

We can request for your previous records from your previous GP on your behalf. Alternatively, you can complete the Transfer of Records Request form at your previous GP clinic and fax it to our clinic or bring your records with you on your next visit.

We’ll happily transfer your medical records to your chosen GP clinic if required. Your external GP will need to send a Transfer of Records Request to our medical centre to process the transfer.

Unlike most medical practices, if youhave a medicare card, our consultations are BULK BILLED, meaning no there are no out of pocket costs. This is because weunderstand how difficult it would be to afford standard medical care for a pensioner,  student, single parent or any patient facing our current inflation rates.

If you do not have a medicare card, a standard consultation with our doctors is a private fee of $70 and $90 for a long consultation.

If you have a medicare card, the costs of most pathology testing are covered.

Appointments

Yes, we offer telehealth appointments via telephone or video consultations. However, you must meet one of the governing telehealth criteria:

  • Have seen any of our GPs for a face to face appointment within the last 12 months of his  telehealth appointment
  • Children under the age of 12 months
  • Person of homelessness
  • Person living in a flood affected area which has been declared as a natural disaster by the State Government All telehealth appointments begin over the phone. Your GP will call you at your allotted time. If you don’t pick up, your GP will leave a message and will try again at a later time during the day. If you return the call, our receptionist will try their best to connect you to your GP right away, however, rest assured your GP will call you back as soon as they are able to. Yes, you are welcome to bring your family member or friend to provide support. You will be required to complete a Third Party Consent form prior to your appointment on arrival.

At The Good Samaritan Medical Centre, our doctors take your precious time with utmost care and try their very best to adhere to your scheduled appointment time. However, the unpredictable nature of medicine means that sometimes doctors can run behind due to unforeseen emergency cases which require longer medical attention. Other times, patients may book for a 15 minute appointment and present with multiple or complex concerns that require a longer appointment. Nonetheless, our doctors will do their best to see you at your scheduled appointment.

Yes, The Good Samaritan Medical Centre accepts both scheduled and walk-in appointments.

We do not offer after hours medical services, however you can call 1300 Home GP (02) 8724 6300 for assistance and a home visit will be arranged by a GP from Sydney Medical Services.

You can cancel your appointment prior to presenting by contacting us on (02) 9602 3418 and reception staff can also help you to reschedule your appointment. By notifying reception of your cancellation, we are able to offer your time slot to another patient in need of medical attention.

Yes, everyone who visits can easily access all facilities at The Good Samaritan Medical Centre. All our facilities have wheelchair access such as:

  • A ramp located at the medical centre entrance
  • Onsite parking
  • Wheelchair accessible bathrooms
  • Extra wide doorways and hallway
